JASPER (Joint Attention, Symbolic Play, Engagement, and Regulation) is a play-based intervention that teaches social communication skills to young children with autism.

JASPER is successful in helping both verbal and minimally verbal children learn core social communication and play skills within a state of regulation and joint engagement. JASPER is a caregiver mediated service meaning parents/caregivers are taught by developmental health professionals how to support their child’s skill development.

Eligibility: 

• Your child is between 1-4 years old
• Your child has an ASD diagnosis

What to Expect 

Our team will provide assessment and intervention services for the following skills:

• Gestures for joint attention and requesting (pointing to objects, etc.)
• Play diversity and complexity (using an object to represent another object in play)
• Social engagement
• Verbal communication
• Behavior regulation
